Complete Failure - Heal No Evil

'Heal No Evil' opens up on pure punk adrenaline as it comes out swinging with the violence knob cranked to 11. The fierce vocals ebb perfectly with the tumult of misanthropic riffs and throbbing drums. When things slow down though you'll hear more Today is the Day and Eyehategod influence than would be normal for a grind band BUT with their drummer hailing from the ranks of TitD and their sludge-roots running deep they can't seem to escape the need to sink back into lower/slower passages like their being dragged into a tar pit. Truly, if you like fast music that isn't afraid to bring it to a halt on occasion then this is something that you need to pick up.

Shockingly enough, these guys weren't up on here already so I decided to throw those of you not in the 'know' about this band a tasty mother fuckin' bone. CTTTOAFF are leading a pretty unique battle against grindcore these days. Their dissonant sound strikes like a cobra and crawls like a giant ground sloth. Blistering speed fraught with ear-splitting dissonance and mammoth low-end that plods along at -1 mph beneath the entire shitstorm. Think for a second: I know I use the 'smoothie' analogy a lot these days so we'll call this a...mixed drink. 3/4th's Deathspell Omega, 1/8th's Gaza and 1/8th's Pig Destroyer. Sound good? The Secret - Solve et Coagula

The Secret is a band that pushes the envelope until it rips. Their proficiency in all fields of sonic intensity are clear upon the first listen. The droner of an opener sets you up with walls of feedback and reverb while rasping vocals deliver their message from behind colossal riffs. The rest of the album flies from grinding madness to blistering blackened hardcore. There are no words that you could effectively label this band other than 'Goatgrind' (that's right, I'm inventing a god damned genre for them).

Starting off fast out of the gate, this band of grindmachines fires riff after riff out of their seemingly endless arsenal into your ears. But this ain't your dad's grind band. These dudes have a sense for odd bits of melody and crushing slowness that set them apart from most of the other speedfreaks. They dwell in a strange place where there is no middle ground, there is only the blistering points of extremity in all directions. You want it fast? You got it fast as FUCK. You want it slow? You're getting some of the most face-crushing slowness you can handle.

Ed Gein - Judas Goats and Diesel Eaters

Ed Gein is one of those bands that have always 'been' to me. I remember just getting into heavy music at a young age and reading about them all over the internet and seeing them on bills with bands I wanted to go see. So for me, I guess there was this inevitable air of 'you're going to end up listening to these guys whether you like it or not'. Eventually 'Judas Goats and Diesel Eaters' appeared in the Used Record pile at my local music shoppe and lo' and behold it was only $3.99. So after picking it up at the tender age of 14 I remember being absolutely torn to shreds by the amount of pure savagery and disgusting guitar tone on this record. Batshit riffs slice through a tumult of frantic drums and a cacophony of varied vocal styles (later I learned that this was because the band had no vocalist. Instead, every band member was a vocalist). Absolute musical insanity and sadly it seems that quite a few people have forgotten them. Well, for the sake of remembrance and for the sake of nostalgia why don't you go ahead and let your head spin to this for a while.
