108 - 18:61

The zen of noise is one not often explored by those with weak kung-fu. For those of you that frequent this blog, I assume your kung-fu is rather strong. Well in that case I think you should be able to ride the hip-swingin' sounds of 108 and their brash noise rock attack. The riffs rip, the vocals croon and crack, the drums pound at your temples like woodpeckers robotrippin' their beaks to goo. You know what I mean. Spark up, tune out and zip-line your mind straight into this rabid jungle of lovely jingles aimed at your inner housewife.

The United Sons of Toil - When The Revolution Comes, Everything Will Be Beautiful

The United Sons of Toil are working class noise rock from the protest ravaged state of Wisconsin. As they put it their music embodies "The front-line of class warfare and the battle for workers' rights". This is music born of revolution and rebellion; violating the sanctity of Old Money and "play-it-safe" rock music. This is what it's about. That howlin', rioutous tumult of power chords and earth-movin' rhythm. This is politically charged, pissed off and drenched to the bone with piss and vinegar. 'When The Revolution Comes, Everything Will Be Beautiful' is a testament to small bands making big noise and doing it right.

The album is now available for dirt cheap in all forms (Digital Download {$4} and CD {$8} available now, Limited Edition Colored Vinyl {$10} available April 2011).

Get out there and buy their shit or I will personally come to your house in my overalls and dance a jig on your face.

Oxbow - An Evil Heat

Sweet sickening sounds crooning and cawing over the thicket and crick. Sexual and writhing like a bucket of snakes slathered in seminal fluid. Primal, hot and sticky; this ain't your gran'pappy's rock n' roll and this ain't that pussy shit you hear on the radio, this here is an adventure into the psyche where your imaginary fuck buddies hang out. You know that chick with the big juicy ass that picks all the right clothes to bend over in? She's there. You know the hot black guy that works the counter at the Raider's store? He's there. You know the punk chick at the show with the apple bottom and sexy paper-thin legs? She's there. It's one big fuckfest in your brain and here's the catalyst. Dirty. Sleazy. Nasty. Sweaty.

Rabbits comin' soon

After being totally underwhelmed by the write-ups on these guys I decided to give 'em a listen first hand before completely dismissing a new member of the Relapse family. After listening to the track available here I can really hear that straight-forward Melvins worship along with hints of bands like EyeHateGod (I've been name-dropping them waaaay too much recently when it comes to new Relapse bands), Thrones and Sleep percolating through the mixture.

Young Widows - Old Wounds

Young Widows is a band that make highly energetic noise rock not unlike that of The Jesus Lizard (albeit with a bit more gusto if you can believe it) and newer Daughters. Their mixture of slow churning guitars and fast, sometimes mathematical passages makes for a varied and pulse-pounding listen. This is easily one of the catchiest records out there, its lyrics seem to walk a thin line between delightfully youthful and downright gallows humor. I've been meaning to upload this one for a while and yeah, I'm pretty late to the punch but this goes out to all the people who needs some good ol' fashioned noisy rock music in their lives.

Part Chimp - Thriller

When it comes to noisy rock music of the stoned out variety, normally I know my deal but surprisingly this band slipped under my radar. Coincidentally I saw the cover of this record somewhere before and I tried to make a mental note to download/buy it somewhere but sadly (as my memory is rather shit these days) about a year later I still couldn't remember. Luckily Steve Brooks (America's Sweetheart of Torche/Floor fame) posted them on his page and my mind went all a twitter with excitement. Upon listening to it for the first time, it had everything I could ever want. Dreamy guitars with fabulously HEAVY low-end and nimble-but-punishing drums. The vocals slide and drip over this big stoner-sundae like 'butters drippin' ovah hot biscuits'. Nothing sounds better to my ears right now. Epic in every sense of the word.

Let me put it into words:

If the magazine 'Heavy Metal' had a soundtrack, this would be it. That's right; the only album ever to really match the awesomeness of monster slayin' babes and hunks behind the controls of a massive starship and maybe even a dragon fighting an eagle or some shit. It's just THAT good.

Imagine if you will, a world where Floor, Melvins, Big Business, Sonic Youth and Black Sabbath were all one and the same.

I'M GOING TO MAKE YOUR ASSHOLE LOOK LIKE A USED TIRE
