There are a lot of bands in the 'Incantory Death Metal' pile and to be honest it's kind of lame. But just like anything there are going to be exceptions. Father Befouled manage to carry Incantation's death doom sound to new heights of eeriness. The 'ambient' interludes really add a lot of atmosphere to the record and draw you in. As for the riffs, there are plenty and while most of the faster passages seem to be taken verbatim from Incan, the doomier passages surpass those of their predecessor. These guys churn out slow-pummeling death riffs better than practically anyone I've ever heard. If you like really barebones death metal then you should get this record.
